Professional Background

One month after graduation from UNM in May of 1977 I obtained my Real Estate license. I then went to work for Century 21 Malin Realty. I was the top producer for 6 of the 9 years I worked for Century 21. In June of 1986 I went to work for Rio Rancho Homes which was the home building company for AMREP SW in Rio Rancho. I served as Broker Co-ordinator until August of 1990 which involved the promotion of the builders new homes to the Real Estate community. In October of 1990 I went to work for Coldwell Banker and have been one of their top producing agents ever since. I have averaged 40 transactions closed per year over the last 10 years. I work unassisted and feel the personal contact I have with my customers and clients is invaluable. I feel I have built in a lot of efficiency into the way I work over the last 39 years and take full advantage of the fantastic staff at my office. With over 1,000 transactions closed in my career I have  accumulated a lot of knowledge & experience that can be used to help you buy or sell a home.

Personal Background

I came to New Mexico after graduating from high school in 1972 to attend the University of New Mexico. Upon graduation in 1977 I obtained my real estate license and have been in the real estate business ever since.  I am the proud father of three grown children, and two grand daughters. Amanda was born in 1985. She was followed by her brothers Charles, in 1986 and Victor in 1990. My daughter is now a bilingual educator, my older son an attorney, and my younger son a CPA. I became a grandfather for the first time in 2012 and again in 2014.

Over the last 40 years I have lived in every quadrant of Albuquerque and have also lived in Rio Rancho. I feel like I know Albuquerque and Rio Rancho very well and am recognized by my peers as an expert. 

I consider myself a big promoter of Albuquerque and the surrounding area and feel very fortunate to be here. I love showing people around and recommending places to go. We have such great weather and natural beauty here. I am proud to be a New Mexican!

 

 

 

Personal Interests

I enjoy traveling around New Mexico and hope to eventually visit every small town in the state I have taken the AMTRAK train from Gallup to Las Vegas and by car all over the state. I love spectator sports like Lobo football & basketball and the Albuquerque Isotopes. I am proud to be a UNM graduate and a Lobo! I am also a huge New York Yankee fan and try to catch a couple of games every year.

I also enjoy participating in sports. I enjoy swimming, skiing, hiking and the outdoors in general.

I was a history major in college and enjoy reading about New Mexico history.

Richard helped me to purchase my first home in Albuquerque in 2009. At the time, I was working with another realtor who just wasn't cutting it and was not finding homes within budget and in working order. Richard helped me to find a home and negotiated more than we both thought was possible. Richard remained in contact with me through mailers, email, etc.. over the years. After I learned of an out of state move in 2014, I sought out Richard to paint a picture of what I'd be looking at if I sold the home. He immediately came to visit the home to see the homes current condition including remodels, then provided a honest and detailed market analysis. I decided to wait it out and again, through the years Richard kept in contact to provide updated market analysis and walked me through several options (listing pros and cons) of a potential sale both with current renters and trying to sell outright. All that to say, fast forward to 2018. We had an abrupt end to a lease with our renters and our family was not in a position to afford two mortgages or visit the property as I was due to have a baby within weeks. We were on the phone with Richard and within 24 hours, he had a plan to get our house on the market. He did everything - and I mean EVERYTHING from doing the final walkthrough/collecting renters keys, to coordinating contractors for work, to multiple open houses until our house was sold! He did everything he could to represent us as a valued client and in my opinion, went above and beyond what I expected any real estate agent to do. He is firm, direct, and is the world's fastest responder to any call or message. Our house was listed and had two contracts within a couple of weeks. Thanks to Richard and our families prayers, we sold our house at a perfect time and got rid of a out of towner's rental headache. He has a great group of contractors he works with on a regular basis and was able to postpone payment for work completed (which was negotiated in sales contract) until closing. This was also a tremendous help. Thank you so much Richard for your commitment to getting our house sold and relieving a big stress during a special time in our lives. You earned every penny!

We had a short sale that was a very long process due to the mortgage company we were dealing with. Richard was very persistent with the mortgage company to keep things moving along. He responded quickly to emails/texts. He helped get the house ready to sell and checked on it through out the whole process since we live out of state. He was really great to work with and we highly recommend him!

I actually met Richard when I was a home inspector (pest control) about thirty years ago. Since having first hand knowledge of how Richard conducts his real-estate business, I personally than decided to use Richard when I sold my home. I have worked with a huge number of real-estate professional's and I consider Richard to be one of the finest realtor's in the Albuquerque Metro Area! Richard is all about hard work and making the sales experience very positive!
